Overview:
This is a game-ready building asset created for a sci-fi real-time strategy game. The model represents the base level (Level 1) of a faction's resource extraction chain – an automated pumpjack rig paired with on-site storage tanks and a compact processing/control hub. The design leans into industrial functionality: the bright red extraction machinery instantly communicates the building's purpose, while the muted grey control block and cylindrical tanks keep it consistent with the faction's visual language.
Process:
Modeled with a stylized low-poly aesthetic, clean topology, and a distinct silhouette that remains readable from a top-down perspective. The oversized pumpjack wheel, twin antennas, and cylindrical tanks define the shape language at a small on-screen scale, while deliberate color zoning – saturated red for the extraction rig, dark green for the crank/counterweight assembly, cool emissive blue for the control room windows – lets the player parse the building's function at a glance. All mechanical components (beam, counterweight, pump rod, wellhead) are separate elements, so the pumping cycle can be driven with a simple rotation/offset animation. A stylized ground pad is included, allowing the asset to be dropped onto any map tile as-is.
Technical Details:
Triangle Count: 962 Triangles (lightweight enough for dense RTS scenes and mobile builds)
Vertices: 623
Edges: 1,088
Faces: 480
Objects: 19 (modular structure; moving parts of the pumpjack are separated for easy animation and destruction states)
Optimization: Fully game-ready, ideal for RTS and mobile titles with heavy building and unit counts on screen.
UVs: Non-overlapping and tightly packed for efficient texture usage.
Textures: Hand-painted / Substance Painter workflow, 1024x1024 resolution.
